Our Answers to Your Frequently Asked Questions About Ikare
Yes, it is possible to configure and automate settings via theIKare. Dedicated documentation is available within the interface.
IKare is based on the CVSS standard, an international baseline scoring system, as well as the EPSS standard.
For each identified vulnerability, IKare provides detailed information, including host information, IP address, domain name, and operating system. IKare classifies vulnerabilities by severity, assigns them a score, and provides information on how to mitigate or remediate them.
A user can request the generation of IKare reports (reports on detected vulnerabilities) for the devices they can view based on their user profile (managed in user account administration).
Reports are exported in PDF or CSV format. You can customize PDF reports by creating templates that match your brand guidelines and the content you want to export.
You can choose which devices to scan, the time intervals, and the start date for the scans. You can also specify the number of parallel scans and the scope of the scan (including the option to exclude ports or port ranges).
IKare allows you to configure authenticated scans at the device level or for configured groups of devices.
When you purchase the IKare solution, ITrust provides you with a user guide.
Please contact our sales department at commerce@itrust.fr to get in touch with one of our representatives, who can answer your questions, schedule a demo of the solution, or provide you with a free trial license.
One of IKare's strengths is its installation flexibility:
- On-Premise: Allows you to perform internal and/or external scanning and manage the solution directly within your infrastructure.
- Cloud: IKare adapts to cloud environments based on your needs.
- SaaS: Best suited for external scanning and small volumes of documents to be scanned.
- Hybrid: By setting up secondary sensors, you can install your main IKare in SaaS mode and also set up a sensor within your network.
IKare operates agentlessly in black-box mode to perform vulnerability tests just as a penetration tester would. It is also possible to configure authenticated scans on a per-device or per-virtual-device-group basis to uncover more vulnerabilities.
For a standard installation, you should expect:
- 4 GB of RAM
- 4 CPUs
- 64 GB of memory
It is possible to allocate more resources depending on the size of the area to be scanned. It is also possible to install secondary probes, such as mini-IKare probes connected to the main probe, to improve the solution's scanning performance.
Since the software is provided as an ISO image (for the operating system) and an installation script, you must be familiar with managing virtual machines and the network settings on the system where IKare will be installed. You will also receive an installation guide and an administration guide once your order has been confirmed.
For optimal performance, we recommend the following system requirements:
- 4 CPUs
- 4 GB of RAM
- 64 GB of storage
Yes, you can try IKare in POC mode for free for 30 days.

It takes about an hour from installation to configuration of the equipment groups.
It depends on several factors, but on average, it takes between 15 and 40 minutes. Depending on the network, it can take up to 2–3 hours.
To optimize scan performance, you can add IKare probes to increase the number of parallel scans.
IKare can discover and then scan all types of devices with an IP address on the network. This includes servers, workstations, network equipment (routers, switches, etc.), copiers, storage devices, and so on.
There are 4 types of user profiles in the IKare solution, each with different permissions:
- User : View the tool and reports only
- Operator : Ability to run scans and take action on vulnerabilities
- Manager : Manage users in your group
- Administrator : Comprehensive product management
Yes, IKare keeps a history of all scans performed on all monitored devices. There is no time limit on the storage and retrieval of this information.
A trial license is limited to 10 IP addresses and lasts for two weeks. It does not provide access to all of the solution’s features but is sufficient to get started with the tool and test its effectiveness. All details are provided in the administration guide that will be provided to you.
Updates are performed automatically in the background.
For minor and major updates (other than VX.Y.Z), customers are notified one week in advance via a marketing email.
As a general rule, we release several versions throughout the year, including: 1 major release (featuring advanced features) and minor releases (featuring new features, bug fixes, plugin updates, etc.).
Updates are performed regularly and automatically for licensed versions. The update process runs every night.
Since the software is provided in the form of an ISO image (for the operating system) and an installation script, you must be familiar with managing virtual machines and the network settings on the system where IKare will be installed. Yes, the IKare server's administrator menu allows you to redirect logs to a log collector.
Accounts are stored in a database in encrypted form using a hash function based on an encryption algorithm (AES 256).
The port 443 (HTTPS) must be enabled to ensure access to the web interface for using IKare, and port 22 (SSH) must be allowed to ensure access to a system administration interface.
Communication with the ITrust license server takes place over the Internet; it enables software updates, updates to the latest detection plugins, and license verification. Of course, this communication can take place through an HTTP proxy.
For "defense" environments, an on-premises solution within the company is offered to avoid external communications.
Functional enhancements are planned in the IKare roadmap for 2024 to enable the implementation of external SSO authentication.
IKare will soon allow you to customize reports with your company's name, particularly for use as a white-label product.
Yes, as an MSSP, VAR, or MDR, you can use IKare as a service provided to your customers. In this case, billing is based on usage (number of IP addresses scanned).
Ikare can also be used in consultant mode for one-time audits using a laptop.
Yes, IKare is developed and marketed by ITrust.
The EULAs (the Terms of Service and Terms of Use ) are displayed the first time you use IKare and are available on the IKare license management screen.
You can report errors or bugs at support-ikare@itrust.fr or by calling 05 82 08 81 80 (Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.).
IKare uses a scanner for discovery and an audit port. This is an essential part of the solution and cannot be disabled. It is possible to disable ports and/or port ranges from the IKare scan, either for a specific device or for an entire group. IKare will take these exclusions into account and will not audit those ports or services.
In addition, for any specific requests, you can contact the sales team at commerce@itrust.fr.
IKare was designed to minimize both the duration of the scan and network bandwidth usage. As a result, its impact on the network is minimal. We recommend that you run the scan during periods of inactivity (such as at night).
IKare is available as an ISO image for installation on a virtual machine with its own dedicated operating system. This ISO is compatible with standard virtualization tools, such as VMware, Hyper-V, and VirtualBox, and can be installed on specific environments that support these technologies.
